Knitting up a tangle
Looks like meeting the April 30 deadline is going to be a breeze for some of the gals in the group. In my case, the silk blend top is halfway through.
You know how I like to try on my knitwear as I progress along. So as soon as the body's completed, I seamed the shoulders.
And can I say that the mannequin is showing off the garment than if the piece is worn on me personally? The model certainly has a great bod with the curves in the right places.
There's supposed to be sleevework and a collar to be knitted in as well as I was originally contemplating a long sleeved top. Here's a sleeve started.
However, I am having second thoughts about it. I was thinking of converting it into a sleeveless dress or maybe a skirt to match instead. The gals are egging for the conversion too. What do you think?
While mulling over the decision, I decided to go back to my red lace mohair.
Honestly, I think it's a bad decision. It was a UFO from last year which I didn't had many notes taken to mark where I stopped. After I finally found my spot, I knitted on happily. I was gonna announce that I have completed and is moving onto the right front when I realized the boo boo I made -- in my haste, I forgot to shape the neck edge. How careless is that?
So once again, into the frog pond it'll go. As you can see, my knitting hasn't been too productive of late!

When charcoal meets yarn
I participated in an Art Exchange recently. It was a project where artists from various fields are matched up, much like swap partners where we create an item for each other. So I knitted...
A shawl. It's a great cover up for those chilly evenings or when one is in an indoor air-conditioned space. This piece is for my Art Exchange partner/artist -- Tang Ling Nah, an acclaimed artist in Singapore.
I reckoned that the simple shade of blue would go well with Ling Nah's wardrobe. I gifted it to her in Mar. In return, she also presented me with a lovely charcoal drawing that she framed too.

Entitled "Admirality Link" -- it's the vicinity where Ling Nah sets up her studio.
It's just so cool. Participating in this project allowed me to meet and exchange some thoughts with an artist that I otherwise might not have a chance to.
Perhaps we should get around to organizing such exchanges more often?

Blogging in spurts
I wonder if this is a problem for another bloggers. I have taken to analysing my entries and noticed an erratic trend --
1. Either no entries for an entire month 2. Or consecutive entries over the next 15 days or so; usually with 3 or 4 days -apart entries
I am a bad, bad blogger. I noticed that major incidences do throw activities off track a little. On my part, the sacrifice is on my blogging. But then, I never do hold off my knitting for longer than 2 weeks or so. During that time, I'll be bringing out all my pattern books and re-flipping to browse and re-acquaint myself with any new possibilities of future projects. [I have way too many that is being tabbed that the total count probably is closer to the high end of double digits!]
However, even when the writing is held off, I would still try to post some of the knitting that I've been working on. Such as my pink silk blend top.
If you are wondering why the knitted lace garment hasn't seem to have grown, well, I have ripped back a repeat or so. Just because I spotted 2 rows of pattern where I have done 2 purl stitches instead of knit stitches.
The gals (Jenny and Leena) kept reassuring me that I was just being over-zealous and that no one would have spotted the mistakes as they are embedded in the knitting.
Now my question is: how many of you would have gone ripping to rectify the mistake if the mistakes are found more than a repeat away?
My knitting has been lagging lately so I made a pact with Leena -- she has a goal to finish her sleeveless hoodie while I am to complete this silk top by Apr 30. We reckon that having to egg each other on by doing regular progress reports certainly helps motivate us to move along faster as we do have other projects in mind that we want to start on.Anyone joining us on the Apr 30 deadline knit? Oh, and did I mention that I am pretty glad that Project Spectrum has pink listed for the months of Apr/May?
