Baby KAL update

Welcome Lisa.

Christina has yet started another baby project while Lynnette whipped up a pair of cute baby booties. And so did I -- these are the basic mary jane booties again...

This is the *before* picture; I've just done some jazzing up with flowers since.
Just use your imagination [grin]

Been bad and good

Bad?
Not posting lately....going MIA (missing in action).
Not buying yarn -- right, hubby keeps reminding me of the platform chubbies full of yarn that's yet to be used.

Good?
The time off the internet is spent on me working on the commissioned projects. Can't show you pictures yet until the client collects the finished items.

I also spent some time to puff out (pun intended) fluffy clouds which turned into this:

I just worked out some schematics and plugged in some stitches. Now, if I am that patient to write out the pattern... it's done in cotton and it's quick crochet.

And these are Mom's first attempt at using the sewing machine (remember that power fuse scare?) to make a bag!

Not too bad; I'll say since the last time she used a sewing machine (a manual one) was like 20 years ago?! We were having problems with the thread messing up itself big time from the bobbin spooler below.

Right, and baby KAL update is on this week!

What a mountain

of goodies...

Here's what my dear friend, Cherilyn sent ... she knew I am in a crochet phase lately so in the packages (she sent 3!) there's current and back issues of various crochet magazines.

Not only that, she was kind enough to send me lots of leaflets from an October festival which features a lot of classes, yarns from various companies and mills etc. I could *feel* the atmosphere even as I am flipping through. I really need to spend some time to go through these gems with a cup of cocoa.

Oh, and some take one pattern leaflets too!

Thanks Cherilyn! Now, it'll be my turn to reciprocate....how about yarns?

Needle on the go!

Thanks for all the kind blog-versary wishes!

After checking my progress this week, I just decided to pull a couple of things out of the WIP basket to nudge them in the direction of the finish line. It's about time to do some organization so that one can get more new yarns and projects!

Remember this?

The
beaded purse (ala sea urchin) that didn't cooperate?

Well, after some intense negotiations, it decided to cave in.

So mom is going to receive her belated Mother's Day gift afterall!

And on the baby pants set, I realized that more closeups are in order. Here's some:

(Yes, I *did* take time to sew on the label this time...)

See how the stripes line up? Love 'em!

And here's a project that I started; doesn't it remind you of fluffy clouds?

Belated blog birthday

Being a muddlehead as I usually am, I just overlooked the fact that this blog is already one year old on Sep 21.

Hmm...how has this blog changed my life?

1. It got me more organized and aware of my knitting and crochet progress.
I haven't kept a journal previously so completion dates are never an issue (of course, unless that project is meant for the tiny one that threatens to arrive into this world earlier than scheduled.) But that also meant that I never have a true indication of how many projects I am into. (I still can't be exact on those counts though, unless I keep track of my FROGs or test pieces but I am getting there.)

One thing's for certain though: I am definitely venturing out a lot more such as conducting crochet & knitting sessions and starting to do more pattern writing. Who ever knew they are so much fun?

2. I made so much more new friends that I couldn't have otherwise known/met.
All those who share the passion of hand crafting. Yup, 12053 of them. (Ok, so I made up the number, but I swear I did *make* a lot of new friends!) Like the famous Lily Chin, Cherilyn from Toronto who's just had a new grandson, Siow Chin from Hong Kong, Celia from Australia who's trying to bring me into the world of spinning and so many others!

Not to mention all those who have been so gracious and generous with their offers of swaps and exchanges; you have touched me by your kindness and thoughtfulness. [You all know who you are...]

I am so blessed to have known all of you!

Baby KAL update

Jennifer knitted an incredible v-neck raglan in just 36hours! Go check it out at her blog.

Kristyn started on a Dale of Norway project and have some pieces to show while Gina started some baby socks in a lovely variegated colorway.

Anyone else onto something exciting? Like crochet? :)

Happy baby or is it happy me?

I have been juggling multiple projects lately and I am not getting to those deadlines fast enough. However, I am glad to report that my pattern testing for Figheadh is finally completed, finito! It's been taking a while and testing it is a testament of my love for Maths [grin]. If you are interested in this pattern, please go visit Jen and tell her you would like to purchase the baby pants set. (I am not mentioning this set's name until Jen is ready too.)

Shopping for those tiny buttons took me a while. I probably wasn't looking in the right places.

Now that it's all finished, my sister is bugging me to gift this set to her yet-to-be-born baby instead. Hmm.... isn't it amazing that the yet-to-be-born babies seem to accumulate new clothes and accessories at an incredible rate? Lately, everywhere we go, we are always checking out the baby stuff; even up to ages of 2! LOL

On the other hand, I have also completed the denim crocheted bag which I designed. As usual, a closure is still lacking and I am thinking of what to put on as a great finish. Decisions, decisions...

By the way, Zira just did her last minute tripping around Singapore - details found here. She's leaving to meet up with her new host soon!

Tired but happy feet

The no-blog content lately is a result of my slipping away for a quick trip to Bangkok with hubby & Zira. You can read more about our trip here and here. Nothing to report on yarn quest since I didn't go out actively to lookout for them. We are just tired from an all day walking at the famed Chatuchak Weekend Market where we started at 11am and ended at 7pm -- a good whole eight hours on our feet!

Luckily Zira didn't come with us on that trip else she'll be drenched. We got caught in a heavy thunderstorm in the late evening and had to waddle through the water choked streets within the market.

But imagine my surprise when I discovered this package when we got back home!

A pair of newly knitted socks just for me!

My Sockapal2za partner, Barbara from NC has sent me these lovely petticoat socks (made from Debbie Bliss Cashmerino, no less!) and a wonderfully scented lavender sachet that's made out of Koigu!

And of course, you want to see my clothed feet, don't you?

Hmm, they are so soft on my aching feet. They are definitely much appreciated! (Just ignore my long toes will you?) Thanks so much, Barbara... I am a woman with happy feet :)

PS. Baby KAL update will resume this week.
